The Pitt News seeks students to work as photographers for the newspaper’s visuals desk.
Your job is to photograph events, people and places that are featured in The Pitt News. Everything from sports events to portraits to concerts on campus are fair game. Sometimes more creative photography is required for columns and covers!
The visuals desk is where anything artistic for the newspaper comes from. Photographers and illustrators are all welcome! They cover everything from events on campus and around Pittsburgh to sports games to creating more creative pieces for covers and columns. The visuals desk also works closely with the news desk during major events on campus or in Pittsburgh. Desk members take assignments each week to take photos or draw illustrations for stories. The visuals desk consists of staff photographers and illustrators, senior staff photographers and illustrators, an assistant editor and a head editor.
Students are compensated for their work at The Pitt News. This position is open only to registered students at the University of Pittsburgh's main campus.
