The Pitt News seeks students to work as writers for the newspaper’s culture desk.
Culture writers focus on everything culture, such as music, art, film, poetry, food/drink and more. You’ll cover these areas in Oakland and around greater Pittsburgh, as well as some current events from the entertainment world.
The culture desk writes most of The Pitt News’ arts-focused articles. Covering everything from music to food, the desk offers i nsight into life in Pittsburgh. Working for the desk involves a lot of talking to local artists/creatives about their work. Writers can also review theater, movies and music, contribute to staff picks and weekend watchlists (listicles where writers write a small review related to one topic). The culture desk consists of staff writers, senior staff writers and an editor.
Students are compensated for their work at The Pitt News. This position is open only to registered students at the University of Pittsburgh's main campus.
