Med-Neurobiology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25000320)
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Essential Functions The Research Technician will assist with multiple aspects of conducting neuroscience research in animals. Responsibilities will include: preparation of animals, equipment, and supplies for surgery; animal transport, care, and enrichment; assistance with survival and terminal surgical procedures; data collection, brain tissue processing, microscopy and data analysis. Training will be provided for all aspects of the job. The incumbent will need to learn emerging techniques and complex methods.
Physical Effort Mobility and some physical effort is required to work with larger (20-30 lbs) animals and clean procedure rooms. The incumbent must also be able to assist with long procedures (some >12h) that usually require standing.
