Job Description - Network Engineer (25000167) Network Engineer Pitt IT Operations - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25000167) The University of Pittsburgh’s Information Technology department (Pitt IT) is seeking a Senior Network Telecom Engineer. This technical position will participate in the analysis, planning, design, and development of enterprise network technologies delivering data, voice, and video to the University. This position will specifically engineer, implement, and administer networking technologies for the Oakland and regional campuses and engage in the service delivery functions of the Network Engineering team. Candidate must be highly proficient in all aspects of enterprise level voice and data networking with a focus on Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto , F5, Avaya and other vendor LAN, WAN, WLAN wireless technologies. Position is responsible for the execution of network changes and upgrades aligned with the network architecture and departmental goals and objectives. This position will also perform hands-on testing and integration of new production network technologies and upgrades to include design packages, unit and system level test plans, system documentation and change management disciplines. Provide Tier 3 technical support for troubleshooting and problem resolution for all network systems and infrastructure. Position is on call 24×7 to fix network problems and provide extensive problem solving and leadership to the Network Operations Center and associated departmental teams. This position will also engage with customers and other departments within the University and provide subject matter expertise in the areas of Information Technology and networking. Must have proficient knowledge of networking. Physical Effort Must be able to travel to customer locations throughout the campus, including its off-campus sites and regional campuses. Will at times be required to carry items that would weigh about 20 lbs. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
